When I opened a new school, one of the very first things I did was create a logo for my band and a logo for my orchestra.
Now, I can’t claim to be a graphic designer by any means, but since then I’ve created about 25 more…for my own school of music, businesses and events that I’ve provided consulting for, and even some high school teams.
Why would I put so much time and effort into something so simple? I mean, if we’re connected to a school, we can just use the school logo, right?
Well, yes, that’s true. Your school will have its own ‘branding strategy’- a set of school colors, fonts, icons, and logos that it uses on everything from the website to printouts to fundraising campaigns.
But having your own similar yet distinctive logo for your band, orchestra, or choir can do a lot for you. Just look to the athletic department. Chances are good that they also have a separate logo that goes on their t-shirts, warm-ups, fliers, etc.
Most of all, it makes you stand out. It makes your program memorable.
And that’s a good thing! Especially if you ever have to recruit students or fundraise. The right logo can make you look and seem more professional, legitimate, and…well…safe!
So now you’re thinking, “Yes! I’d like to have a logo!”
But if you’re like I was back some-teen years ago when I was starting out you probably have no idea how to go about it!
Thus, I have created for you a simple video training where I show you the easy [and free] tools and design techniques that you can use to create your own logo [or logos] in just 10 minutes or less.
